Waning Moon
Pluto, Neptune, Saturn, Chiron, Uranus Retrograde
We change from September into October during the week, which means this is our last week with this beautiful deck. I hope you’ve enjoyed it.
We had a full moon last Saturday. This coming Saturday, on the 3rd of October, Venus joins the retrograde parade. It’s time to re-examine relationships, and be careful of the temptation to change your look radically. Play with ideas, but wait until Venus goes direct to make a decision and make the actual changes.
This month, we use the BONESTONE & EARTHFLESH TAROT: THE REAWAKENING by Avalon Cameron with art by Ana Tourian. I received this deck in spring, and have worked with it almost every day since. It is a deck that I knew with which I would forge a deep connection from the moment I touched it, and that has only grown over the past months. The artwork is gorgeous and the interpretation guidance insightful. It also contains journal prompts for each card, inviting even deeper exploration. You can find out more about the creators by clicking on their names, and buy the deck here.
Thank you to Jamieson Wolf, who first introduced me to the deck.
This is one of my spreads, that I call The Elemental Spread. It is very similar to many of the Medicine Wheel spreads I’ve seen, but I made a few tweaks to the way I use it over the years.
We start in the center, with Spirit/Self. This is the overall energy of the week, and how we relate to it.
We move to the position above, with is North/Tangibles, connected to the element of Earth, advice on how to deal with the week on a tangible, materialistic level.
We move clockwise to the third position, East/Thought, connected to the element of Air, advice on how to intellectually deal with the week.
Then we move down to the bottom of the spread, the 4th position, South/Passion, connected to the element of Fire, advice on how to deal with the week from a place of passion and identity.
Then we move up to the left side of the spread, the 5th position, West/Emotion, connected to the element of Water, advice on how to deal with the week from a place of creativity and emotion.
We wind up where we started, at the spirit center, integrating all the information for the week.
These interpretations are mine, based on my experience, intuition and responses to the artwork.
You may have a different experience. This is an overview of the week as it stands now; every decision we make from the moment of the reading can change the outcome. If there’s something in the reading that worries you, you have the information ahead of time so that you can plan, make better choices, or handle it differently than predicted for a better outcome. Tarot sets out possibilities, which you change through your choices and actions.
All readings are for entertainment purposes only, and do not constitute legal, medical, psychological, business, or financial advice. Choices and decisions made based on the tarot reading are your responsibility. The tarot reader is not liable for any actions or decisions you make as a result of the reading. That is true of this reading, and of past and future readings.
Center – Spirit/Self: The Chariot
The driving energy of this week is the Chariot. It’s about mastery, willpower, and movement. Widen your perspective. You might travel literally (as I am doing this week) or figuratively, as you make plans for change. You are making progress. You are doing the work.
North – Earth/Tangibles: Strength
The travel that drives you this week needs you to show strength and compassion in tangible ways. The determination fueling the chariot also aids in the strength needed here. Remember that compassion and kindness are forms of strength. Find the central stillness, and know where and when you can draw on reserves.
East – Air/Thought/Intellect: The Bruxa
This card is unique to the Bonestone deck. The Bruxa is a being of magic, and of calling the magic from deep within. Surrender, sacrifice, and tap into your deep divination abilities. In the position of the east, this is about pondering how you think about magic, and how you want to use it.
South – Fire/Passion/Identity: The Hanged Man
Odin appear here, in the position of identity. This is a time to look at things from a different perspective. It’s also a time to pause rather than push. At first, this card appears to be at odds with the chariot, which is about movement. However, often physical movement (walking, driving, traveling) encourages deep reflection. Instead of seeing these cards in opposition, use the energies of the Strength card and the Bruxa to see how the cards can encourage and support each other.
West – Water/Creativity/Emotion: The Hermit
This is another card of rest and healthy solitude that allows deeper insight. This card works with the Bruxa through the Chariot, as well as being in next step in the emotional cycle of the previous card (reading the cards clockwise from the North). The Hanged Man has tapped into the Bruxa’s energies and found a fresh perspective, which then allows the Hermit to integrate.
All of the cards in this week’s reading are Major Arcana cards, which means transformative energy. The nuts and bolts might not be visible yet, thanks to all the retrogrades, but the this is a week for deep introspection while being in motion. The motion is not the transformation yet. The motion shakes loose what you need in order to reflect.
Did this resonate, or did you get something different? I always enjoy hearing about it!
