Community Tarot Reading for the Week of Sept. 21, 2026

Waxing Moon
Pluto, Neptune, Saturn, Chiron, Uranus Retrograde

Tomorrow is the Autumn Equinox!

The dark lengthens from Wednesday on until the Winter Solstice.

On Saturday the 26th, we have a full moon.

Venus goes retrograde on Saturday, October 3, and will remain retrograde until November 13th. This is not the time to do a makeover or change your look in a major way.

This month, we use the BONESTONE & EARTHFLESH TAROT: THE REAWAKENING by Avalon Cameron with art by Ana Tourian. I received this deck in spring, and have worked with it almost every day since. It is a deck that I knew with which I would forge a deep connection from the moment I touched it, and that has only grown over the past months. The artwork is gorgeous and the interpretation guidance insightful. It also contains journal prompts for each card, inviting even deeper exploration. You can find out more about the creators by clicking on their names, and buy the deck here.

Thank you to Jamieson Wolf, who first introduced me to the deck.

This is one of my spreads, that I call The Elemental Spread. It is very similar to many of the Medicine Wheel spreads I’ve seen, but I made a few tweaks to the way I use it over the years.

We start in the center, with Spirit/Self. This is the overall energy of the week, and how we relate to it.

We move to the position above, with is North/Tangibles, connected to the element of Earth, advice on how to deal with the week on a tangible, materialistic level.

We move clockwise to the third position, East/Thought, connected to the element of Air, advice on how to intellectually deal with the week.

Then we move down to the bottom of the spread, the 4th position, South/Passion, connected to the element of Fire, advice on how to deal with the week from a place of passion and identity.

Then we move up to the left side of the spread, the 5th position, West/Emotion, connected to the element of Water, advice on how to deal with the week from a place of creativity and emotion.

We wind up where we started, at the spirit center, integrating all the information for the week.
These interpretations are mine, based on my experience, intuition and responses to the artwork.

You may have a different experience. This is an overview of the week as it stands now; every decision we make from the moment of the reading can change the outcome. If there’s something in the reading that worries you, you have the information ahead of time so that you can plan, make better choices, or handle it differently than predicted for a better outcome. Tarot sets out possibilities, which you change through your choices and actions.

All readings are for entertainment purposes only, and do not constitute legal, medical, psychological, business, or financial advice. That is true of this reading, and of past and future readings.

Center – Spirit/Self: Knight of Pentacles
Lilith showed up in the Sept. 7 reading in the west. This week, she is the driving force of our spirit. The Knight of Pentacles is slower than the other knights, and more thorough. What this knight puts into practice sustains. Lilith is also primal. Her energy creates and sustains, without being caged. Keep going this week. Steady on, and don’t let anyone else define you.

North – Earth/Tangibles: Eight of Cups
The 8 of Cups is about leaving something behind that holds emotional meaning for you. You are embarking on a new course, quest, road in your life. Morgana, depicted in the card, crosses the water holding a lamp to illuminate her way. Since this is in the position of tangibles, the departure will be something tangible that will affect your emotions. Even when it heralds something better in your future there is still a lot of emotion swirling. Explore the spiritual in tangible ways this week as you navigate this transition.

East – Air/Thought/Intellect: Nine of Swords
This beast is in its natural home of the intellect. With all the cups in this week’s reading, the 9 of Swords in the position of thought warns us not to turn the beast inward onto ourselves. Be kind to yourself as fears rise in all the emotional waters this week. Don’t turn on yourself. Acknowledge and respect anxieties and fears while not letting them rule you.

South – Fire/Passion/Identity: Page of Cups
More cups! This page, represented by Kuan Yin, is in the position of identity. Remember to value your kindest self, rather than the beast within from the previous position. Compassion will carry you more steadfastly than anxiety this week.

West – Water/Creativity/Emotion: Ace of Cups
The artwork in this card is unusually dark for a card that’s usually full of bright colors and joy. This ace is an eclipse, closing a door, as indicated by the 8 of Cups in the north. Make room for something new, be it romantic, creative, or emotional. Let go of the old, be kind to yourself, and allow yourself to receive something new and powerful, even if it’s a little scary.

We have 3 cups, a sword, and a pentacle this week. No Major Arcana cards. No wands. There’s a lot of emotion in the daily details. Flow, rather than tighten in anxiety, and be kind to yourself and others.

Did anything resonate with you, or did you get something different? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
