Waxing Moon
Chiron, Uranus, Jupiter Retrograde

Hello, and Happy Solstice! Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, Summer Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. This is a moment of pause before change.

The tarot reading supports that!

We’re using the Robin Wood tarot deck for this. I’ve had this deck since the 1990’s, and use it for many of my personal readings. You can learn more about the creator and the deck here.

This spread is one of mine, a 3-card spread that looks like a pyramid (or a tree).

We read the top card first – this is the beacon for the cycle from now until Imbolc.

We read the card on the left second – this is the part of our shadow that supports us.

We read the card on the right third/last – this is what we need to know as we take the next step.

Beacon – The Hanged Man
This card reminds us not to rush, and to look at things from a different angle. Around this time of year, as the wheel turns, and then again around January 1, there’s a lot of pressure to make changes fast, or promise to make them and then get overwhelmed. 2025, in particular, has been a rough year, the year of the wood snake, and we are eager to enter the fire horse. But remember, the fire horse doesn’t arrive until Chinese Lunar New Year, on February 17. So take your time between now and Imbolc. Don’t rush. Look at things from new angles. Decide what is worth your sacrifice, and what is worth dropping when you climb out of that tree.

Supportive Shadow – 2 of Wands
It’s time to make a plan. The figure in this card holds a globe and gazes at it, between their staff and the wall, looking to find their place in the world. Make plans, dream, turn the globe around in your hands to look at it from all angles (tying in to the Hanged Man). Dream big, and then make a plan to get there, knowing that part of the plan is being flexible with it, and being able to roll with unexpected opportunities or challenges that meet you along the way.

As You Step Forward – Queen of Swords
Move forward having learned from your mistakes. This has been a rough year on many levels for many of us. Plus, Neptune in Pisces for the past fourteen years has been harder on some of us than on others (as a Pisces, this was true for me). Neptune is still in Pisces, the last gasp, having turned direct after the retrograde, and moves into Aries on January 26, 2026. Again, supporting the Hanged Man. It doesn’t all change today or on January 1. Be patient, plan, look at various angles, and move forward having learned from your mistakes, with a new sense of clarity and discernment.

Did anything in this resonate with you? Or did you get something different? I’d love to hear from you in the comments.
